When a maple tree came down at a home in Spring Lake Heights, we didn’t want to see it hauled away. We brought a section of the trunk back to our shop and turned it into a serving board for the homeowners, a piece of their own property they can use every day.
Instead of hiding the natural cracks in the wood, we filled them with blue resin. It brings out the character of the maple, and no two boards will ever look alike.
Nothing went to waste. The leftover piece became a shelf that now lives in my greenhouse. It’s a small project, but it’s the kind of custom work our in-house shop loves doing, from serving boards to full kitchens of cabinetry.
